IMPORTANT VOTER INFORMATION

The North Carolina State Board of Elections offers an array of information regarding voting. Through its voter search, you can check your voter registration, identify your precinct, identify your jurisdiction (school, city, county, and judicial districts; congressional district, etc.), find your polling location, and view a sample ballot.

Voter Eligibility

To register to vote in North Carolina, you must:
  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Live in the county where you are registering.
  • Be at least 18 years old or will be by the date of the general election.
  • Not be serving a felony sentence, including any period of probation, post-release supervision, or parole.
The N.C. Voter Registration Application may be downloaded in a PDF or completed online through DMV. The completed form must be hand delivered or mailed to the Board of Elections Office before October 11, 2024.
Use this application to
  • Register to vote in Cumberland County, if you are a first-time voter
  • Update your voter registration if you have moved recently (from another county or state)
  • Update your name, address, or party affiliation

Ways To Vote

Persons may vote in person during the early voting period, by mail (absentee ballot), or in person on election day.

Before you go to the polls,
  1. Check your registration status and election day polling location at the NCSBE site.
  2. Ensure you have a valid ID.
  3. Invite a family member or friend to go with you.
  4. Know the time you will go to vote.
    -Polls open at 6:30 a.m. and end at 7:30 p.m.
    -You are to go to your designated precinct polling location
    -Absentee ballots must be received by BOE by 7:30 pm on election Day
